In addition to the information on this page, you can use the smartphone applications Google Maps and Moovit and “ViaBus”, in order to know the right way of transport to your destination. I am explaining about this in the page about the Buses of Bangkok.

From the Airport Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok main airport) to the Khaosan road
- By Direct Bus : Bus number S1. It operates between 6 am to 8 pm. Frequency each half hour. Cost 60 Baht. Board the bus on floor 1 of the terminal (you need to go down from the arrivals). There may be also another direct bus by a private company called LimoBus.
- By Airport-link train :The preferred choice for getting from the airport to the city center (30 minutes, 45 baht. Read more about the airport train with maps). Unfortunately the train doesn’t reach the Khaosan area (which is in the old part of Bangkok). The last station in town is called “Phaya-Thai”, it is also a skytrain station. From this point to continue to the Khaosan you can take a taxi (60 baht, 20 minutes) or you can take bus 2 or 59 or 60 or 79 or 511 but you will need to walk 10 minutes to the bus stop (59 is exactly there). See on this map how to walk from the “Phaya-Thai” skytrain station to the bus stop to the Khaosan.
See also where are the Khaosan bus stops. - By Taxi : About 400 baht. It is 1 hour drive if no traffic.
- By mini-bus : This service exists from the Khaosan to the airport, not in the other direction. There are minibuses picking up travellers from the hostels and going directly to the international airport. The frequency is about each hour. You can buy the ticket in the travel agencies in the Khaosan.
- See the airport on a google map.
From the Airport Don Mueang (mainly a regional airport) to the khaosan road
- By Direct Bus : Bus number A4. It operates from 7am to 11pm. Frequency each half hour. Cost 50 Baht. There may be also another direct bus by a private company called LimoBus.
- By Regular Bus : Bus number 59 goes between the airport and the Khaosan. It operates also at night. The frequency is not great at night.
- By Metro (Train) : From year 2021, there is a new Metro line, the SRT red line. From the airport you can take this line and make a change at the Bang Sue station (new railway station) and connect to the metro (MRT) blue line. See the Map above. The metro doesn’t reach the Khaosan road, you need to continue by bus or boat on the canal.
- By Shuttle Bus + skytrain + Bus : There is a shuttle bus A1 (high frequency) betweem the airport and Mochit skytain station, then you continue with skytrain and bus to the Khaosan.
- By Taxi : About 400 baht. It is 1 hour drive if no traffic.
- By mini-bus : This service exists from the Khaosan to the airport, not in the other direction. There are minibuses picking up travellers from the hostels and going directly to the airport Don Mueang. The frequency is about each hour. You can buy the ticket in the travel agencies in the Khaosan.

From the Khaosan to the boat station on the Canal Saen Seap
The closest pier of the canal is about 1.2 Km from the Khaosan. It is the last station of the boat service to the west of the city. It is pier number 4 and the name is Phanfa Leelard.
It is situated near the famous temple Wat Saket. See the canal station on map
To arrive to the pier, you can either:
- Walk 20 minutes
- Take a Tuk-Tuk or Moto-Taxi (about 40 baht, 7 minutes). Tell the driver, “to Wat Saket”, it will be much easier than to explain that you want to go by boat.
Note: Normal Taxis will not be very enthusiastic to take you for a short ride.
See more on the public service of boats on the canal Saen Saep
From the Khaosan to the boat station on the River Chao Phraya
The access to the station (pier 13) is from the street Phra Athit, which is on the river. From Khaosan road you need to go to Rambuttri walking street (river side) and then there is a shortcut to Phra Athit. See everything on map.
Khaosan Bus stops
There are two stops. One is on the main avenue with the Democracy monument (the Buses 2, 15, 44, 47, 59, 60, 70, 79, 157, 159, 171,183, 201, 509, 511 stop here) and the other stop is on Phra Athit road by the river (Buses 3, 15, 53 and 524 stop here).
- Note : Buses 2 and 59 are also night buses.
- See the stops on the map above or see them on an Interactive Google map .
From the Khaosan road to the Skytrain (BTS) stations
The skytrain of Bangkok doesn’t reach the part of the city where the Khaosan is located. (Nor does the underground system, the MRT).
The closest skytrain stations are Siam, National Stadium and Ratchathewi and they are about 5 Km from the Khaosan so you need to take some transport to arrive there. See a Map with bus, boat, skytrain at Siam area.
