The canal (khlong) Saen Seap goes from east to west, it is parallel and close to the skytrain line in the very center (the big malls). There is a public boat service that runs on this canal during day time and the service is very convenient in order to bypass the heavy road traffic. It is especially convenient if you want to travel between the center of town (big malls) and the old part of the city (Khason road, Wat Saket and the big palace).
The service operates only during day time, it costs between 10 to 20 baht and it is fast (20 minutes from Wat Saket to MBK). It is also fun and interesting to take a ride with these boats but not very comfortable because you need to be in good shape in order to climb into and out of the boat and also the water from the dirty canal sometimes splashes on passengers.
Remark : At Pratunam station (station 0), you sometimes need to change boats in order to continue on the canal (different administrative sections).
