Commercial Port

Where the very big boats (passengers and cargo) are stopping. the easiest and most amusing way to visit it, is with the Golondrinas touristic boats from Port Vell. (40 minutes trip).

Hotel W

A big Hotel in form of a sail. I mention it because it is the only thing you see, if you look to the right. There is a bar upstairs to visit at sunset. The promenade along the beach is nice.

Puerto Olimpico

Montjuic hill

A hill at the south of the city, close to the center. Nice views over Barcelona. The hill starts at plaza de España (inland) and ends at the sea. (See plan below)
How to Get there ?

  1. Funicular (see explanation below).
  2. Teleférico del Puerto (see below).
  3. Touristic bus
  4. Taxi
  5. Regular Bus from plaza de España. Bus number 150.
  6. By foot from Plaza de España or from the commercial port area.

A funicular that goes from the metro station Parallel and arrives to Montjuic. It travels underground.
The ride is included in the regular ticket metro, it’s like changing a metro line, no need to buy a new ticket.

Teleférico de Montjuïc

A cable car for travelling inside the Montjuic hill. It starts at the point where the Funicular ends and arrives to the castle. No long queues.

One possibility is by taking the Funicular.

Teleférico del Puerto – for Montjuic hill

A cable car that starts at la Barceloneta beach and gets to Montjuic. Nice view. Long queues.

Metro station: Barceloneta, then needs to walk 10 minutes to the beach.

An old military castle dating from the middle ages era. Nice views over the port.

With the Teleférico de Montjuïc or by walking in the roads on the hill.

Olympic facilities of Montjuic hill

A stadium that was renovated to host the 1992 Summer Olympics games. This is not really a tourist attraction, but a nice point if you choose to walk in the mountain.
How to Get there? 
It is in the middle way between Plaza de España and the Castle (long walk).

Gracia zone

Tibidabo zone

A mountain peak overlooking Barcelona, about 4 Km from the city center. A children park attraction. A church. Nice view over Barcelona.
How to Get there ?
Option 1 :
Metro + Blue Tram + Funicular : Get down at the metro station “Av Tibidabo” then take an ancient “blue tram” (Tramvia Blau) that dates from 1901, then a funicular to the top of mountain.
Option 2 :
Metro + Bus + Funicular : same as option 1 but instead of the “blue tram” you take a bus (same stop), because the Blue Tram doesn’t operate every day.
Option 3 :
Direct Bus from Plaza de Cataluña : Inform yourself at the Tourist Information booth in plaza de Cataluña because this bus doesn’t operate all the time.
Option 4 :
Touristic Bus : The touristic bus has a stop at the Metro station “Av Tibidabo”, then you have to continue as in option 1 or 2.
Option 5 : This is the cheapest way (it costs just a normal metro ticket). You arrive (by Metro) to the metro station “Peu del Funicular”. You climb with the funicular (included in the same metro ticket). You arrive to a sort of village in the mountains. You take a shuttle bus (included in the same metro ticket) till Tibidabo, or if you prefer, you can walk, the area is nice and there is a huge telecommunication tower on the way (Torre de Collserola).

Taxi

Camp Nou zone

Camp Nou Stadium – The Barça museum

The famous football stadium of Barcelona and a museum about the Barça team. Big Barça shop.
How to Get there ?
Metro stations: Les Corts or Maria Cristina or Palau Reial or Badal. Need to walk 20 minutes from the metro stations. The Touristic Bus has a stop.

The Touristic Bus

A double deck bus that has a sightseeing trajectory in Barcelona. It’s possible to get on and off the bus at the many stops. There are 2 companies : Barcelona Bus touristic and Barcelona City Tour.
Take this bus if you are short of time in Barcelona. Otherwise, you can easily
arrive by yourself to the tourist attractions by walking or with the metro.
How to Get on the bus ?
Buy a ticket at the hotel, tourist information offices or at the bus itself. The ticket is per days, not journey.

The biggest feast in Barcelona. A feast in honour of Barcelona city. four days starting the 24 of September. Music shows, popular dances, Giant dolls, human castles, overbooked hotels.

 

Note 1:
Barcelona is a city with very beautiful streets. You can enjoy life by just walking in the central zones of Barcelona and eat an ice-cream. You don’t necessarily need to wait in queues in order to enter inside every monument someone has built. I personally know people who just saw the Sagrada familia from the outside and then went to the beach.
Note 2:
Most tourist attractions are in the central zones of Barcelona and you can arrive to them by walking.
